Established in 1985, Cutting Dynamics is an experienced aerospace engineering company, dedicated to the commercial and defense sectors of aerospace. Our main goal is to produce parts that are of the best quality and meet your essential needs.
Between hot forming and cold forming, there are some key differences, and it is important to know that Cutting Dynamics is proud to use hot forming over other techniques. This is because the methodology produces better product strength, resistance to corrosion, and low-weight ratio.
Let’s take a look at hot forming and cold forming.
Hot forming relies on temperature, time, and pressure, making it suited for certain prominent materials. Some of these materials include titanium, Inconel, and certain grades of stainless steel. The advantages of using this technique are varied, but key benefits include accuracy and durability.
In this process, components are made using a press tool. Once these are put through heat treatment, the materials are gripped and shaped. Some materials cold forming can be used on include stainless steel and aluminum alloys.
Some of the benefits of cold forming include:
As a key leader in the aerospace industry, Cutting Dynamics works to provide the best parts and components for our clients. And in order to be the best, we work with the best – we recently secured a brand-new hot form press from Beckwood Corporation. The combination of this press with our in-house team’s expertise results in a significantly reduced lead time, of only 12 weeks.
